The dashboard gauges are analog only so the OBD II scanner is the closest I can get to a temperature value while on the road. As less than an amateur about engines, should the OBD reported timing value going from +33 to +50, at a constant velocity on a relatively flat highway, be a concern? The coolant stays at the low end of the above ranges for a couple of minutes and then swings up and back down in the course of 20 seconds or so.Īny thoughts on what the dealership/garage should check? The engine does not seem to be running rough, just hot. Near home, at 40mph, engine coolant was only hitting 230F. Took the car on a 400 mile drive yesterday, roughly 5.5hrs at 75mph. Talked to them again and they replaced the thermostat. They ran standard tests for the coolant system, and said it looks fine. Very reproducible on the highway (ie, above 60mph) still occurred on urban roads, just not as obvious. A couple of weeks ago, the temperature gauge would go from half to just below 3/4. I have a 2013 Wrangler Sport, 140k miles. Hey y'all, I could really use some insights.
